Jamplay Review
JamPlay is the most well rounded online guitar course I’ve seen. From beginner electric and acoustic guitar lessons to intermediate finger style, blues and metal they cover it all.
Unlike a course like Gibson’s Learn & Master Guitar which is designed to start and finish over the course of several months JamPlay has designed a very organized catalog of high quality lesson videos that you can pick and choose from and learn as quickly or slowly as you like.
What We Like About the Course
As mentioned there is loads of content available inside the membership area ($19.95 per month) of JamPlay.com The lessons are well organized into beginner and intermediate content and there are a variety of instructors for several of the styles and topics covered.
Example: For beginner electric guitar lessons there is current six different instructors providing lessons. Each instructor creates their own series starting with the basics and following along with their own custom lesson plan.
HD Video lessons
All of the lesson videos are shot in HD quality and are also offered in two lower quality formats for those with slower Internet connections. This is a nice feature so that those who don’t have a high speed connection aren’t waiting all night for their video lessons to load.
Live Webcam Sessions
Each day there are four-five live webcam sessions offered by one of the instructors from the Jamplay team. These webcam sessions are available to all students of JamPlay and offer a live streaming video of the instructor on screen as well as a chat window where you can ask questions and communicate with other students and the teacher.
Great Community and Support
Last but not least we really love the amount of support available at JamPlay. The community inside the membership area is fantastic and often other members answer beginners questions to help them keep going. There are sections at a public forum where you can pose questions to each individual instructor and there is also a section under each lesson where you can post public comments if you’re unsure of something.
Over all JamPlay is maximizing the interaction you get with the instructors and other students to ensure you stay motivated and get your questions asked when or if they arise.
What we Didn’t like about the Course
I know this is an online guitar course but not everyone wants to watch their guitar lessons on the computer. If you fall into this category then definitely check out Gibson’s Learn and Master Guitar.
Jam Tracks
Also while it’s not a deal breaker the jam tracks that are available for download inside the practice area of JamPlay could be a lot better. They sound like they were recorded using samples on Garage Band. While they do the job when you compare them to other online guitar courses or DVD lessons the quality could be a lot better.
Conclusion
Over all for the monthly price you’re getting access to a ton of lesson content for less then the cost of a single private guitar lesson each month. No matter what you’re current skill level is there is something for you to learn at Jamplay.
Price
The price of $19.95 per month is a few dollars higher then competitor Guitar Tricks. However I feel it’s justifiable as Jamplay provides more content and offers more perks to it’s members.
Guarantee
There is a satisfaction guarantee available. If you enrol at JamPlay and aren’t completely satisfied with their service. All you have to do is contact them within 7 days of signing up and they’ll issue you a full refund.
